In two seperate incidents bombs were hurled at the vehicles of both BJD and BJP MLA candidates from Bhubaneswar-Central on Sunday tonight in Odisha.
While the vehicle of BJD leader and former Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena was attacked in Bhubaneswar's Jharpada, the bomb was thrown at BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan’s car near party office in Bhubaneswar.
The BJD MLA candidate suffered a minor injury in the incident and has been admitted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have met Election Commission officials, demanding that an investigation should be ordered.
The Biju Janta Dal (BJD), in a letter to chief election officer of Bhubaneswar, have demanded a lie detector test and narco-analysis of BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan and others, accusing them of staging a bombing on the vehicle of their candidate from Central Bhubaneswar, news agency ANI reported.
Commenting on the incident, Union Minister and BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan said they have met the EC officials in this regard.
“Violence in Odisha is increasing day by day. Today, BJP MLA candidate from Bhubaneswar Central, Jagannath Pradhan was attacked for the third time. A bomb was hurled at his car. We met EC officials and demanded that an investigation should be ordered,” Pradhan said.
Polls for 21 Lok Sabha seats and 147 assembly seats are schduled to be held simultaneously in 4 phases and the results of both the elections shall be announced 23rd May.
